Hey Buddy,

I don't think that is a bit strong. I think if we came up with a list of the top-10 defensive center fielders of all-time, I believe Edmonds would be on that list.

Edmonds is :one of the better defensive CF of all time"? He was certainly good, but that's a bit strong, don't you think?

As "The Resident Cardinals Fan" I have to say I do not think Edmonds is a HOF'er. I was sure he would be, but the rapid decline in his production after 2006 has left me pretty sure it will never happen. He's going to be one of those guys (Mattingly, Murphy, Parker) who stay on the ballot forever. I'd love to see it happen but I don't think so.

While I realize I am partially to blame for your hatred towards Cardinal fans I think it is completely off the mark. You should appreciate passionate fans, who give a crap about there team and actually follow baseball in general. You and I know far too many fans who only follow the home team's parade route, and couldn't tell you anything about any of the other 29 teams in baseball. That is not the case with Cardinals fans.

Let's not forget to "cry" a little while I'm here. Why in the world didn't the Cards give Jimmy Ballgame the same deal. They need a 4th and/or 5th OF, they have a fairly inexperienced CF and are desperate for a left-handed bat off the bench. Add into it, veteran leadership, a fan favorite and a guy really deserving of another shot and it seems like a perfect match.

This entire article is nothing more than a very weak strawman.

I don't know a single Cardinal fan beliving Edmonds had an HOF career. He needed at least 4 more years of top production to be seriously considered. I'm thinking your issues with Cardinal fans has little to do with the actual content of your articles. I seriously doubt Cardinal fans care one way or the other on what you think if all your artcles build a premise you assign to others simply so you can knock down the premise you created.

Good article. I need to add Edmonds to my HoF watch. I don't think he'll ever be elected, but he could top the 5% threshold and stay on the ballot awhile. .905 OPS and 8 GGs for a CF should be worth something.
