Fantasy Injury Updates….

There has been a slew of injury news in the last 24 hours that could potentially affect your fantasy team. Here is what is going on in the world of injuries…

Daisuke Matsuzaka РWas put on the 15 day DL today with arm fatigue. He should miss just a couple of starts. Possible Replacement Pickup РJustin Masterson. Masterson pitched 4 scoreless innings in relief of Dice K last night and figures to take his spot in the rotation.

Chris Carpenter – Carpenter was placed on the 15 day DL with an oblique injury in which he suffered last night. This why it was so hard to pick the Cardinals to win the division. Carpenter just can’t stay healthy. Possible Replacement Pickup – Chris Perez. With Carpenter being put on the DL, the Cardinals called up Chris Perez. With Motte struggling and nobody actually believing Ryan Franklin is the answer at closer, Perez might get some save opportunities.

Xavier Nady – Word is that Nady will miss the rest of the season with an elbow tear. Nady is expected to be placed on the DL tomorrow. Possible Replacement Pickup – Nick Swisher. Swisher has been on fire and was already taking playing time away from Nady. Now with Nady possibly done for the season, nothing should stand in the way of Swisher getting 500 ab’s.

Melvin Mora – Mora was placed on the DL today because of a lingering hamstring injury. Mora was off to a good start for the Orioles hitting .313 with 1 HR and 7 RBI in 5 games. Possible Replacement Pickup – Ty Wigginton. Wigginton put up a nice .285/23/58 in 111 games last year for the Astros so Wigginton has the ability to put up some numbers. Wigginton will play 3B now that Mora will be out for a couple of weeks.

Scott Baker – Baker will be activated from the 15 DL today and make his season debut against the Blue Jays today as well. Baker has #1 starter potential so he should go into your lineup immediately.
